Argonaut Games has officially completed development of Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos, a remastered version of the 3D platform game first released in 1999. The updated version is set to launch on October 29, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch. This remaster includes visual upgrades and a range of quality-of-life improvements while maintaining the core gameplay of the original. In Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos, the main character, Croc, embarks on a journey to find his missing parents, only to face the return of his long-time nemesis, Baron Dante. Resurrected by the Dantinis, Baron Dante seeks revenge against Croc, complicating his mission. Throughout the adventure, Croc must travel through four unique villages, rescue captured Gobbos, and confront powerful Guardians such as Soveena the Squid, who has an obsession with Ginger Soda. The remaster preserves all the original gameplay mechanics, including jumps and tail spins, while introducing new abilities such as a triple jump, allowing Croc to reach higher places. The game also adds new forms of transportation, including carts, cars, motorboats, a paraglider, and even a wooden airplane, helping Croc navigate levels more efficiently. This version combines the open 3D platform action of the original with modern enhancements, offering both longtime fans and newcomers a family-friendly adventure filled with platform challenges, hidden secrets, and opportunities to save the Gobbos. In addition to gameplay improvements, the remaster includes Croc2pedia, a digital encyclopedia that provides insight into the game’s development. This section features previously unreleased materials, cut content, and a 90-minute documentary called Croc2mentary. The documentary includes interviews with members of the original development team and those involved in the remaster, tracing the game’s creative journey from initial ideas to its final form. Mike Arkin, co-CEO of Argonaut Games, said, “Players now have a date for their next adventure with Croc, October 29. This remaster brings together the open 3D gameplay of the original title, improved visuals, and quality-of-life improvements. We look forward to welcoming returning fans back into the Kingdom of the Gobbos and introducing this beloved second installment to a new generation of players.” Jez San OBE, founder of Argonaut, added, “Croc 2 propels Croc beyond his first adventure, with four distinct villages, new ways to explore, and the search for his missing parents at the heart of the story. Sharing this adventure with another generation of players on October 29 is something very special.” Baron Dante, Croc’s sworn enemy, humorously concluded, “October 29. Note it on your calendars, Gobbos. My Dantinis and I have a little revenge plan in mind, and no triple-jumping crocodile will stop us!” To build anticipation for the release, Argonaut Games has launched Croctober, a month-long event featuring updates, news, and surprises on its social media channels. The release of Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos on October 29 will serve as the climax of this campaign. Players can then join Croc on his quest through more than 40 levels of open 3D platform gameplay. The original 1999 version was titled Croc 2, but for this remastered edition, the full title Croc 2 Kingdom of the Gobbos has been restored.
