Micromania boosts console buyback prices
Micromania has restarted its console buyback program for PS5 and Xbox Series consoles ahead of GTA 6’s November 19 release. The promotion runs from November 2 to November 16, offering higher prices than a similar campaign in July 2026.Buyback values for different consoles
Under the promotion, a PS5 Slim is valued at 475 euros in cash or credit, while an Xbox Series X is worth 500 euros. A PS5 Pro with a disc drive is offered 730 euros. These prices are higher than those from the previous campaign.Buyback value compared to new prices
The PS5 Pro, sold new for 899.99 euros without a disc drive, is being bought back for 700 euros—nearly 78 percent of its new price. A PS5 Slim bought back for 475 euros recovers nearly three quarters of its 649.99 euros new price.Xbox Series X sees increased value
The Xbox Series X has seen a 200 euro increase compared to July, surpassing the PS5 Slim in buyback value. The Xbox Series S nearly doubles its buyback value compared to previous campaigns.Switch excluded from promotion
The Nintendo Switch is not included in the promotion, but a separate offer linked to the purchase of a new Switch 2 is valid until November 16. Nintendo is using the remake of Zelda: Ocarina of Time as an incentive to move players to the Switch 2.Console market in high demand
The console market is described as one where demand exceeds supply, with new consoles becoming more expensive and rarer due to increased memory costs. This trend has made used consoles retain nearly their full value.PS5 Pro in short supply
The PS5 Pro, the most expensive console, is also the hardest to find. It has been out of stock on PlayStation Direct, the official Sony store, since the presentation of GTA 6 on Netflix in August.Micromania adjusts strategy
Micromania is applying a new strategy where used consoles are bought back at nearly their new price. The Xbox Series X is an example, having increased in value from 280 euros a year ago to 500 euros today.GTA 6 launch timing
GTA 6 arrives on a tense market, released only on PS5 and Xbox Series without a PC version at launch. Sony claims it has secured enough consoles for 2026, but several distributors are already out of stock.Promotion ends before game release
The promotion ends on November 16, three days before GTA 6’s release. Consoles bought back during this period are expected to replenish Micromania’s used sections just as demand for GTA 6 and Christmas shopping is set to rise.
