Dance group presents new performance

A German contemporary dance group named tanzmainz, directed by Honne Dohrmann, has created a new performance called Trailer Park. The group consists of twenty-five dancers and is known for exploring societal issues through innovative choreography.

Performance inspired by social media

The performance, which premiered in Lyon, draws inspiration from dances found on social media platforms. It is part of tanzmainz's ongoing effort to examine modern issues through new forms of choreography.

Choreographer’s background and approach

The choreographer, Moritz Ostruschnjak, comes from a background in hip-hop and graffiti. He later trained at Béjart and now works as a freelance choreographer. For Trailer Park, he asked nine dancers to incorporate movements from urban dance styles they found online.

Performance style and purpose

Ostruschnjak’s goal is not to invent entirely new movements but to combine existing ones in a new way. These movements originate from different contexts and were not created by the dancers themselves, but they are reinterpreted on stage.

Themes and audience engagement

The performance reflects on the relationship between the digital and real worlds without offering a clear critique. It invites the audience to reflect on their own use of social media and the contrast between online scrolling and the physical intensity of live dance.

Performance dates and venue

Trailer Park will be performed from October 13 to 15 at the Maison de la danse in Lyon.
