Xreal launches upgraded XR glasses

Xreal has introduced the Xreal 1 Pro Plus, an enhanced version of its previous One Pro model, with several key improvements aimed at closing the gap with the Viture Beast XR glasses.

Key improvements in brightness and performance

The new glasses offer a significant increase in brightness, from 700 to 1,200 nits, and include improved 3D conversion of 2D content, raising the frame rate from 30 to 60 per second. Additional features include new nasal pads, an AI-based HDR mode, and the ability to switch between three display modes.

Pros and cons of the new model

Among the advantages are the increased brightness, better 3D conversion, display mode switching, and improved gesture controls. However, the glasses remain expensive, require corrective lens inserts, and the integrated X1 chip sets a high standard for performance.

Integrated X1 spatial computing chip

When Xreal first introduced the X1 spatial computing chip in its glasses, it revolutionized the user experience with an intuitive menu system and powerful on-device processing. This integration allows for continuous updates, which Xreal has applied to the new 1 Pro Plus model.

Enhanced 2D-3D conversion

The 2D-3D conversion feature is a standout, enabling users to watch events like Formula 1 racing in 3D. The upgrade from 30 to 60 frames per second significantly improves the visual experience, making most video content viewable in 3D mode.

Comparison with Viture Beast glasses

While the Xreal One Pro had a maximum brightness of 700 nits, the Viture Beast glasses offer a perceived brightness of 1,250 nits, with more vibrant colors in bright environments. The new Xreal 1 Pro Plus reaches 1,200 nits, which is bright but still slightly behind the Viture Beast.

Three display modes for different uses

The Xreal 1 Pro Plus includes three display modes: "Standard," "Film," and "Reading." These modes use specialized image processing to optimize visuals for general use, cinematic viewing, or reading, respectively.

Improved gesture controls with Xreal Eye

The Xreal Eye camera, previously a removable component, now supports more advanced hand gesture recognition. Users can navigate the interface with gestures such as pinching to simulate a tap, or using other motions to play/pause, scroll, and launch a voice assistant.

Pricing and future models

The Xreal 1 Pro Plus is priced 50 euros lower than the One Pro. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated Android Aura XR glasses are not yet available but can be preordered at a price of 1,279 dollars.
