Lenovo introduced the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 at IFA 2026, a lightweight laptop weighing just 990 grams. It features a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, an Intel Core 7 Series 3 processor, and a starting price of $999.99, with availability expected in the first quarter of 2027. The device is part of Lenovo's broader "Hybrid AI for Business" initiative, but unlike other products in the lineup, it does not include built-in AI capabilities. The higher-end model comes with a 14-inch 16:10 2.8K OLED display that covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut, offers 500 nits of brightness, and has a bent anti-glare finish. It also includes an optional WUXGA LCD display with 100 percent sRGB coverage and 400 nits of brightness, along with touch support.
The ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 has made notable cuts in connectivity features compared to other models. It lacks Thunderbolt or USB4 ports, even though the Intel Core Ultra 7 Series 3 CPU supports them. Additionally, its Wi-Fi capabilities are limited to 160MHz, which is half the 320MHz support found in the accompanying ThinkBook 14 Gen 9 model. This reduces the maximum data transfer speed. The laptop includes two USB-C ports with USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectivity at 10Gbps and an HDMI 2.1 port with a maximum output of 4K at 60Hz.
Lenovo has not disclosed the AI TOPS (trillion operations per second) performance of the Core Ultra 7 Series 3 CPU used in the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2. In contrast, the ThinkBook 14 Gen 9, announced alongside it, features a Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Plus processor with a clearly stated 80 TOPS AI performance and built-in Copilot+ support. Lenovo describes the ThinkBook 14x Gen 2 as offering "premium mobility in an ultra-thin, lightweight design built for everyday productivity." However, the reduced connectivity options may not appeal to power users looking for a fully featured 14-inch laptop.
