The Philips Hue Go White & Color Ambiance is a smart, portable lamp that can be powered either through a standard electrical outlet or via an internal battery. Currently, it is being sold at Boulanger for 59.99 euros, a 30-euro discount from its original price of 89.99 euros. This lamp stands out as one of the few truly portable smart ambient lighting options on the market, offering flexibility in use without the need to be permanently plugged in. While it can function independently, it benefits significantly from being connected to the Philips Hue Bridge, which unlocks more advanced features. Designed for versatility, the Philips Hue Go can be used as a bedside lamp, ambient light, or even a supplemental light source in different rooms. Its light is carefully crafted to offer warm white tones and a wide array of colors, allowing users to adjust the room's atmosphere. It integrates well with the broader Philips Hue ecosystem, supporting features like pre-set lighting scenarios, voice control, and synchronization with other Hue devices. The lamp is lightweight and portable, making it easy to move from one location to another. It provides around 520 lumens of light, with a color temperature range of 2000 to 2500 K, ideal for creating a cozy ambiance. When connected to a power source, it offers unlimited use, while the battery provides up to 2.5 hours of light. If the candlelight setting is used, the battery can last up to 18 hours. The accompanying mobile app allows users to manage lighting scenarios and automations, and with the Hue Bridge or Hue Sync Box, it can synchronize with other smart devices. Despite its benefits, the Philips Hue Go has some limitations. It offers less than three hours of battery life at full brightness, and its light is dimmer on battery power. It also lacks waterproofing, with an IP20 rating, which limits its use outdoors. Additionally, it has a limited physical interface, featuring only a single button. However, if users already own other Hue products, the Hue Go integrates seamlessly into their existing setup. For those looking for a fully autonomous, portable lamp, the newer Hue Go Portable might be a better option. Nonetheless, the current price reduction at Boulanger makes the Hue Go a compelling choice for those who value mobility and smart home integration.
