Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Keenan Allen has been charged with two misdemeanor offenses related to a suspected drunk driving incident, according to court documents. The charges include operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 or higher, which is above the legal limit of 0.08 in most U.S. states, and operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Allen posted a $500 cash bond and his legal team waived a scheduled initial hearing. A future attorney conference is set for October 26. Colts coach Shane Steichen did not comment on the incident before Wednesday's practice, where Allen is expected to participate. Allen has not made any public statements regarding the situation. According to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to a traffic call on August 30 shortly after 1 a.m. after a vehicle was parked in a restricted area. During the interaction, officers observed signs of intoxication and arrested Allen following further investigation. Allen, 34, is in his 14th season in the NFL and first with the Colts. He previously spent 12 of his 13 seasons with the San Diego-Los Angeles Chargers, where he became a key player and set franchise records. He joined the Colts on August 19, reuniting with Steichen, who coached him for the first seven years of his career. Last season, Allen had 81 receptions for 777 yards and four touchdowns in 17 games, helping him break the Chargers' career receptions record. By the end of his time with the Chargers, he had accumulated 985 receptions, 11,307 yards, and 63 touchdowns. In Sunday's season-opening game against the Baltimore Ravens, Allen had six receptions for 32 yards, leading the Colts in receiving. He is close to moving up in the NFL's all-time receiving rankings, needing just two more receptions to surpass Andre Johnson for 12th place and 64 more yards to pass Charlie Joiner for 30th place. Allen's 70 career touchdown catches are currently tied for 52nd in league history.
