YouTube is rolling out new AI-powered features for YouTube Music to help users discover music, explore artists, and find podcasts more easily. These updates were announced during this year’s Made On YouTube event and include two key tools: “Ask Music,” a conversational AI assistant, and “Your Podcast Lineup,” a personalized audio guide for podcasts. These features are built directly into the YouTube Music app and aim to make it easier for users to find content that matches their interests without relying on traditional search methods. Ask Music allows users to describe what they want to hear in simple, conversational language instead of searching for specific songs or artists. For example, a user could ask, “What songs were inspired by this track?” and Ask Music would generate a playlist based on that request. The feature works across YouTube Music’s vast catalog of over 300 million songs, including official recordings, remixes, live performances, and more. Users can also ask questions like, “Who played bass on this song?” or learn about the creative process behind a track. This tool aims to make music discovery more intuitive and engaging. In addition to Ask Music, YouTube Music is introducing “Your Podcast Lineup,” an AI-generated audio guide that helps users discover new podcasts. With millions of podcasts available, finding new shows can be overwhelming, even for those who already have favorite ones. Your Podcast Lineup will appear on the podcast section of the YouTube Music app and provide weekly spoken previews of recommended shows, explaining why they might interest the listener. It will then suggest specific episodes, making it easier for users to explore new content without sifting through long lists. These updates are part of YouTube’s ongoing effort to integrate AI across its platforms. Last year, YouTube Music tested AI-powered hosts that provided background stories, trivia, and commentary related to the music users were listening to. Similar AI features have also been introduced by competitors like Spotify, which recently launched a feature that uses AI to generate personalized podcast episodes based on user preferences. Both Ask Music and Your Podcast Lineup are set to roll out soon to YouTube Music and YouTube Premium users worldwide.
