Apple has agreed to pay $250 million to resolve claims that it did not deliver on its promises regarding an AI-enhanced version of its voice assistant, Siri. Eligible iPhone owners can now file a claim for a payout. If you live in the U.S. and purchased an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025, you can submit a claim through the settlement’s website. The deadline to file a claim is December 21, 2026. The settlement allows iPhone owners to receive an estimated $25 per eligible device. However, the amount could increase to $95 depending on the total number of claims filed. To submit a claim, users must provide their name, contact information, and the serial number of their iPhone on the settlement website before the December 21, 2026, deadline. The class action lawsuit argued that Apple created a “clear and reasonable consumer expectation” that new AI features shown during its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2024 would be available when the iPhone 16 launched. However, the iPhone 16 came with a more limited set of AI capabilities, despite being marketed as “built for Apple Intelligence.” The AI-upgraded Siri was eventually released with the recent iOS 27 update, but it arrived later than expected. Apple has denied any wrongdoing and maintains that it did not breach any promises to consumers. The company emphasized that the delayed release of AI features was due to the complexity of integrating advanced technology into its products.
