Google is rolling out a series of new features and updates to its Pixel devices this month, aimed at improving user experience and security across its ecosystem. One of the main updates focuses on VIP connectivity, which allows users to more easily reach important contacts. On Pixel 6 and newer models, users can now use expanded home screen widgets to quickly send texts or make calls to VIPs or favorite contacts. Additionally, new notification badges will let users know at a glance if they've received urgent or unread messages from VIPs. The company is also enhancing its Scam Detection feature, which helps users identify potentially fraudulent messages. This update is now available in several countries, including the US, UK, Australia, Canada, Singapore, India, Germany, Mexico, Japan, and France. Scam Detection can alert users through notifications if it detects suspicious messages in chat apps. In the US, this feature is integrated directly into the Gboard keyboard, offering real-time scam alerts as users type. Google is also updating its Wear OS 7 for all Pixel Watch 5 devices. The update introduces a more personalized version of Gemini, Google's AI assistant, which can be used offline. Improved GPS route tracking is another highlight, along with expanded one-handed gesture controls. Users can now double pinch on their watch face to access the notification center, scroll through Gemini responses, view cards in the Wallet app, or switch between Google Maps reviews. Additionally, users can turn their wrist to navigate back to the previous screen, making the watch more intuitive to use. In a separate update, Pixel 6 and newer models can be customized with Harry Potter Audiobook Packs. These packs allow users to change their device's wallpaper, icons, and sounds to match elements from the new audiobooks. Eligible Pixel users in the US, Canada, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, India, Japan, and Australia will receive two free months of Audible, the audiobook service, as part of this feature.
