Series remains top in France
Since its launch on October 7, the series Carrie has stayed at the top of the most-watched programs on Prime Video in France. This success is supported by a 4.1 out of 5 rating from the AlloCiné community, and the announcement of a second season.Connections to Stephen King’s work
The showrunner of Carrie, Mike Flanagan, confirmed that the series is connected to other works by Stephen King. He discussed this during an interview with Gold Derby, where he also spoke about the first season and its continuation.Subtle references in the storyline
Although the ending of Carrie introduces a new and original storyline, the first season includes subtle clues linking it to other works in Stephen King’s universe. This approach is similar to how It: Chapter Two on HBO Max connected to the broader Stephen King narrative.LaMerk Industries as a key detail
One of these references is the name of the construction company where Ralph White, Carrie’s father, works: LaMerk Industries. This name is significant for devoted readers of Stephen King, as it appears in The Dark Tower, a novel series that began in 1982 and was adapted into a film in 2017.Future of the Stephen King Cinematic Universe
Mike Flanagan acknowledged the existence of a "Stephen King Cinematic Universe" shared between Prime Video and HBO Max. He mentioned that fans of The Dark Tower will appreciate the reference to LaMerk Industries, though such elements are kept in the background. It is unclear whether the second season of Carrie will further develop these connections.
