Amnezia VPN has introduced a two-year subscription plan as part of its Premium service, allowing users to pay once and enjoy coverage for 24 months without needing to renew annually. This new option is currently available with discounts until September 15. New users can get the two-year plan for $68, which is 30% off the standard price of $80, while existing subscribers can renew for $56, a 15% discount. The move aims to make the service more convenient and cost-effective over time. According to Amnezia, the longer-term plan helps users save money, avoid potential issues with payment services, and reduce the hassle of frequent renewals. It also acts as a safeguard against future price increases, allowing users to lock in today’s rate. The company says it occasionally reviews its pricing to support its team and infrastructure, as is common with many businesses. Amnezia VPN is an open-source service that began in 2020 as a project from Demhack, a hackathon organized by the Russian digital rights group Roskomsvoboda. Initially designed as a tool for setting up self-hosted virtual private networks (VPNs), it has since expanded into a broader service with multiple tiers, including Free, Premium, Self-hosted, and Business options. A key feature of the service is its focus on resisting internet censorship, using a custom protocol called AmneziaWG for routing traffic, with an alternative option called XRay VLESS for more challenging network conditions. Subscribers of the Premium plan receive access to servers in 20 countries, coverage for up to seven devices, and security features like ChaCha20 encryption, a kill switch to block internet access if the VPN drops, and split tunneling to route only specific apps through the VPN. Recent updates have improved the service's ability to bypass internet restrictions, and WhatsApp has listed Amnezia as one of its recommended tools for circumventing censorship. The service also maintains a strict no-logs policy, verified by independent audits from 7ASecurity in 2022 and 2024, which makes it a strong choice for privacy-conscious users. Amnezia offers three payment plans: six months for $30, one year for $50, and two years for $80. New users can take advantage of the current discount by purchasing directly through the service’s payment page. Existing subscribers can renew the two-year plan by accessing their Personal Dashboard on the website, selecting "Renew subscription," and then choosing the "2 Years" option. The same process is available within the app with just a few taps.
