Flight uncertainty threatens student trip

Two days before their departure, 25 students from the reinforced English third grade at Stilettu College in Ajaccio face uncertainty about their planned trip to London. Their five-day educational stay depends on a flight scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, from Ajaccio to Paris-Orly at 6:55 a.m.

Strike disrupts travel plans

The flight falls within a strike period by Air Corsica pilots, organized by two unions, the Syndicat national des pilotes de ligne (SNPL) and the Syndicat des pilotes de l'aviation civile (SPAC), from October 9 to 16. This strike could potentially cancel the flight and disrupt the students' travel plans.

Trip risks being jeopardized

According to the educational team, if the flight is canceled, the students' journey to London, including planned connections like the Eurostar train and accommodations, could be jeopardized. The team warns of these risks but has not confirmed the flight's cancellation.

Students and community fund the trip

The students have raised funds for the trip through cake sales, raffles, and school events over the past two years. Teachers and families have also contributed to make the trip possible, emphasizing the collective effort involved.

School community calls for solution

The management team, teachers, parents, and students have urged Air Corsica to find a solution that allows the group to reach London. They are asking the airline to either protect the flight or find an urgent alternative route.

Last-minute appeal to secure travel

With 48 hours before departure, the school community hopes to secure the Ajaccio-Paris-Orly flight on Tuesday morning or an alternative that allows the trip to proceed as planned. They aim to preserve the culmination of two years of preparation.
