Netflix has announced that the second season of Black Doves, a popular series that premiered in 2024, will be released in 2026. The new season is set to debut on November 5, 2026, and will consist of six episodes, each about an hour long, all made available at once. The first season, which launched in 2024, was a major hit, with over 10.8 million views in just four days. It topped the charts in nearly 18 countries and stayed in the global top 10 for six weeks, accumulating more than 248 million hours of viewing and 45.3 million total views. On Rotten Tomatoes, Black Doves received a high critical score of 92%, though audience reactions were more mixed. Black Doves follows Helen Webb, a mother who has been working as a spy for a secret organization for over a decade. Her role involves monitoring and transmitting information about her husband’s activities, as he is an influential political figure. In the second season, the story continues immediately after the events of the first season, with Helen facing intense pressure as her husband is about to gain more power in the political world. New secrets will come to light, and the existing balance of power will be disrupted. Keira Knightley will once again star as the lead character, with Andrew Buchan returning in his role as her husband. The season will also feature new actors, including Neve Campbell, known for her role in Scream, Sam Riley, who appeared in Maleficent, and Babou Ceesay, a star of Into the Badlands. Joe Barton, the creator of the series, will continue as showrunner and screenwriter. The second season will be directed by Julian Farino, who previously worked on Giri/Haji, and Kieron Hawkes, known for Fortitude. They will take over from Alex Gabassi and Lisa Gunning, who directed the first season.
