Dominique Rocheteau, known as "l'Ange Vert," has written a new book titled Soif d'idéal, which recounts his football career. This follows his earlier work, Foot sentimental, and provides a detailed look at his life in the sport. Rocheteau began his journey in Étaules, a small town in France, before moving to Saint-Étienne at the age of 16. He became a key player for the Saint-Étienne "Verts," a nickname for the club's green-colored kits, and later played for Paris Saint-Germain, Toulouse, and the French national team. His career included memorable matches, such as a 1976 encounter against Dynamo Kiev and a 1982 World Cup game against Germany, both of which are highlighted in the book. In Soif d'idéal, Rocheteau reflects on the relationships that shaped his career, including those with coaches, teammates, family members, and fans. He also discusses the challenges of dealing with early fame and the pressures that come with media attention. These personal insights give readers a deeper understanding of the man behind the player and the experiences that influenced his life on and off the pitch. Rocheteau, now a coach and mentor, runs "Foot for all," a summer football camp for young people in Royan. This initiative reflects his ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of footballers. His new book, published by Le Cherche Midi, will be released on 08 October 2026. A special excerpt from the book will be published on the same day, offering readers a glimpse into the content and themes explored in Soif d'idéal. The book is expected to appeal to football fans and those interested in the personal and professional journey of a legendary player. Rocheteau's storytelling combines the excitement of his career with the personal reflections that make his narrative both engaging and insightful. With its release date approaching, fans and readers are looking forward to diving into the life of one of France's most celebrated footballers.
