Neil Henderson, the guitarist from the iconic pop rock band Bay City Rollers, has passed away at the age of 73. Henderson had reportedly suffered from a stroke several years ago and had been unwell for some time, continuing to fight for recovery. He was a member of the Bay City Rollers from 1970 to 1972, contributing to the band’s debut chart single "Keep On Dancing." He left the group before they achieved global fame with their 1973 hit "Rollermania." After leaving Bay City Rollers, Henderson joined the Scottish band Middle of the Road, which had its own chart success with the song "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep." This band, known for its distinctive sound and energetic performances, was a significant part of the UK music scene during the 1970s. The Bay City Rollers described Henderson as "our original lead guitarist, songwriter, and friend." In a statement, they expressed their condolences to his two daughters, Heather and Shona, as well as his family and friends. They also highlighted the lasting impact of his music and the memories he created with those who shared the stage with him. Henderson’s contributions to music, particularly during the early years of Bay City Rollers and with Middle of the Road, left a lasting legacy in the pop and rock genres. His work remains a part of the musical history of the 1970s, and his influence continues to be remembered by fans and fellow musicians alike.
