Man arrested with luxury items

A 27-year-old man was arrested on Monday, October 26, in Décines after police found a large amount of high-end clothing on the parking lot of an Aldi supermarket in Décines-Charpieu.

Connection to Lyon looting

The police believe the items may be linked to looting incidents that took place in Lyon on October 17. These incidents involved the theft of goods from stores and other locations during a period of unrest.

Items discovered by police

Around 4:20 p.m. on Monday, police from the anti-criminality unit (BAC) found 21 Hugo Boss shirts, Jott jackets, and items from Chanel and Dior on the parking lot. The estimated value of these goods is several thousand euros.

Suspect’s explanation

The man, who lives in Jons, said he had bought the items for 2,000 euros through the online marketplace Leboncoin. He was the owner of the vehicle where the items were found.

Weapons found at home

A search of the suspect’s home revealed a handgun, several military-style weapon magazines, and additional branded clothing. The man, who is already known to police, was taken into custody.

Investigation ongoing

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine where the goods came from and how the suspect came to possess the weapons.
