Security cameras near a New York City hotel, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was expected to stay, recorded three men emerging from the sewer system before dawn on Wednesday, according to the New York Police Department (NYPD). The NYPD clarified that this event does not appear to be connected to Netanyahu or the United Nations General Assembly, which is currently taking place in Manhattan. In a statement to NBC News, the NYPD explained that such incidents have occurred several times in recent months, typically involving individuals searching for valuable items or scrap metal after storms. The department said this incident fits that pattern, but added that due to the heightened security concerns surrounding the U.N. General Assembly and the location's sensitivity, they are conducting extra security checks with federal partners. The three men were seen exiting the sewer system around 4:30 a.m. and then leaving the area by car. The NYPD emphasized that it has a strong response protocol for such incidents, which had already been activated overnight and would continue throughout the day. These men are believed to be the same individuals previously caught on camera in late May, when they were seen climbing out of manholes in various neighborhoods in Brooklyn. At that time, they were not affiliated with any public works crews, raising concerns about unauthorized activity in the city's infrastructure.
