Election annulled in Tournefeuille

New municipal elections have been scheduled in Tournefeuille, a commune in the Haute-Garonne department, after the local administrative court annulled the previous election due to "irregularities in the voting process, associated with a minimal margin of votes."

Contested re-election for mayor

The outgoing mayor, Frédéric Parre of the Socialist Party (PS), had been re-elected by just one vote in March. His closest rival, Laurent Soulié from the Renaissance party, will face him again in the upcoming election after the annulment was announced by the department's prefecture on October 27.

Election results and court decision

In March, Parre received 6,262 votes, while Soulié received 6,261. The Toulouse administrative court ruled on September 22 that the election should be annulled due to the "presence of irregularities in the voting process, associated with a minimal margin of votes," according to the Haute-Garonne prefecture.

New election dates set

The first round of the new municipal election will be held on December 6, with a potential second round on December 13 if needed. Both Parre and Soulié have confirmed they will run again, and the prefecture has outlined plans for a temporary management structure during the transition.

Temporary administration planned

A "special delegation, composed of three members from the public sector" will manage only routine affairs of the commune until a new municipal council is installed. This interim arrangement aims to ensure continuity in local governance during the election process.

Candidates outline their visions

Frédéric Parre has stated he is "completely ready" to run again and plans to meet residents to share his vision for the city. Laurent Soulié, on his website, describes himself as a proponent of an "ambitious vision" and emphasizes three key commitments: increased security, controlled urban planning, and no increase in the communal share of the property tax during his term.
