French golfers compete in crucial tournament

Eight French golfers are competing in the Genesis Championship in South Korea, the last regular-season event of the DP World Tour. The tournament takes place at the Woo Jeong Hills Country Club and is vital for players aiming to secure a top 70 position in the Race to Dubai, which grants entry to the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship, the first stage of the European Tour playoffs.

Key players in contention

Martin Couvra is currently ranked 37th in the Race to Dubai, while Victor Perez is 50th and will be in contention for the Abu Dhabi event. Tom Vaillant (60th) and Couvra (66th) are close to qualification but lack a guaranteed margin. Couvra chose not to compete in the Genesis Championship, unlike Vaillant.

Multiple French players in race

Ugo Coussaud (76th), Antoine Rozner (77th), Frédéric Lacroix (78th), and Oihan Guillamoundeguy (82nd) are also vying for a top 70 spot. A strong performance could shift their positions, as 5,000 points are up for grabs this week. Guillamoundeguy needs a performance equivalent to a 9th place finish to enter the top 70, though others' results will also matter.

Defending positions and securing futures

David Ravetto, ranked 95th before the tournament, must defend his place in the top 100 to retain a full card on the DP World Tour in 2027. The tour has reduced the number of players guaranteed a spot from 110 to 100. Félix Mory (163rd) and Jeong weon Ko (173rd) need a major result, such as a win or second place, to avoid being sent to Spain for the PQ2 of the European Cards.

High stakes for French golfers

The Genesis Championship is more than a final event for the French players still in contention. Four rounds in South Korea could determine whether they qualify for Abu Dhabi or retain their tour cards, making this tournament a high-pressure opportunity for all involved.
