Valencia CF has signed 23-year-old English midfielder Harvey Elliott on a loan deal from Liverpool until the end of the current season. According to BBC Sport, the agreement does not include any option or obligation for Valencia to sign Elliott permanently once the loan period concludes. Elliott expressed his excitement about the move, stating, "I wanted the opportunity to come here, play regularly and experience a different league. I'm very grateful to Valencia for giving me that opportunity. I feel ready to get started, but ultimately, it's down to the coach whether he wants to put me in." He arrived in Spain on Monday night to finalize the transfer after Liverpool and Valencia reached an agreement earlier in the day. This marks the second consecutive season Elliott has been loaned out by Liverpool. Last season, he was with Aston Villa, and he had been a regular during Liverpool’s pre-season matches under the previous head coach. However, new manager Andoni Iraola did not include Elliott in the squads for the club’s recent matches against Newcastle and Nottingham Forest. Elliott’s contract with Liverpool runs until 2028, and he joined the club from Fulham at the age of 16 in 2019. He also had a loan spell at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship during the 2020-21 season. Valencia, who finished ninth in La Liga last season and failed to qualify for European competition, are currently struggling in the league. After a poor start to the season, they are sitting in 16th place, having lost all three of their opening matches. The club is hoping that Elliott’s presence will provide some much-needed depth and experience in the midfield as they aim to improve their performance this season.
