A major fire in Ucciani prompted a large-scale rescue operation, resulting in structural damage and the loss of a pet.
Fire breaks out in Ucciani garage
A fire broke out in the basement garage of a residence in Ucciani on Wednesday morning around 10:30 AM, according to the Service d'Incendie et de Secours de Corse-du-Sud (SIS 2A). Firefighters arrive quickly
Firefighters arrived at the scene promptly, finding the flames still contained to the garage. However, the intense heat from the fire had already caused damage to the main structural slab of the house. Building deemed unsafe
Due to the observed damage to the house’s structure, the local commune issued an order declaring the building at risk. This meant the residents needed to be evacuated immediately. Occupants and pets affected
The occupant of the residence was able to relocate with his family. Two companion animals were also exposed to smoke and suffered poisoning, with one of them unfortunately dying. The other was treated by emergency services and taken to a veterinary clinic in Vazzio. Firefighters mobilized
A total of 16 firefighters and five vehicles were deployed for the operation, highlighting the severity of the situation. Fire declared extinguished
After several hours of efforts, the fire was declared fully extinguished shortly before 4 PM.
