Google Maps introduces travel notifications

Google Maps is set to roll out a new feature that sends notifications to users when they arrive in a new city, aiming to enhance their local discovery experience.

Feature aims to boost AI assistant use

The notifications are intended to prompt users to interact with Ask Maps, the AI-powered assistant within the app, which helps users find places to visit and other useful information.

Personalized recommendations expected

The feature is expected to provide personalized suggestions based on the user's location, preferences, and travel history, making it easier to explore new areas.

Rollout details not yet confirmed

Google has not officially announced a specific release date for the feature, but it is currently in development and may be available in select regions first.
