Boulazac wins first league game

Boulazac earned its first victory of the season in the Betclic ELITE league with a win over JL Bourg, marking a turning point after a difficult start to the campaign.

Challenging start to the season

The team faced early struggles, including losses during the preseason and an elimination in the Coupe de France by Chalon, which highlighted the need for adjustments and improvements.

Defensive improvements credited for win

Coach Alexandre Ménard attributed the victory to a shift in the team's defensive mindset, which limited JL Bourg to 31 points in the second half and helped secure the win.

Defensive progress noted by coach

Ménard expressed satisfaction with the team's defensive improvements, noting that after two rounds of the league, Boulazac had the least effective defense, but they managed to limit Bourg to 73 points in this game.

Importance of team effort and strategy

The coach emphasized the importance of defensive stops and the team's adherence to strategic markers, as well as the collective effort, including contributions from less-used players.

Challenges remain despite the win

Ménard acknowledged the defensive pressure from Bourg, which caused lapses in the final quarter, and stressed the need for improved focus and awareness against stronger teams in the league.

Victory provides a foundation for the team

Despite the win, Ménard emphasized that much work remains, and the team must maintain this level of commitment to ensure their survival in the league, with the victory offering a sense of relief and optimism for upcoming matches.
