Jito Kok's injury status uncertain

Jito Kok, a 32-year-old Dutch center who is 2.06 meters tall, may not be available for Champagne Basket's upcoming ELITE 2 match against SCABB. Kok suffered an ankle sprain during the team's victory over JAV Vichy on October 20 at the Reims Arena. Reports indicate he is listed as very uncertain to play in the game scheduled for Friday, October 23 at 20:30.

Impact on team strategy

Kok's potential absence could affect the interior rotation for coach Éric Bartecheky. The team is trying to find consistency in its performance, and Kok's experience and presence in the paint are significant. His role in the team's strategy is expected to be challenging to replace if he cannot play.

Kok's career and performance

Kok joined Champagne Basket this summer from Hyères-Toulon and is in his third consecutive season in ELITE 2. Before that, he played for Saint-Chamond during the 2024-2025 season. Last season, he averaged 8.1 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game in 32 matches with HTV. This season, he is averaging 5 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in 15 minutes of play.

Team's current performance

The uncertainty about Kok's availability comes as Champagne Basket is trying to start its first winning streak of the season. After five games, the team has three wins and two losses but has not yet won two consecutive matches. The victory over Vichy helped the team achieve a positive balance, but coach Bartecheky is seeking more consistency from his players.

Coach's comments on team effort

Coach Bartecheky emphasized that the team lacks consistency in effort and needs to enter games with more energy. He noted that the team must maintain this energy throughout the entire game and reproduce it match after match to improve their performance.

Upcoming challenge against Saint-Étienne

The trip to Saint-Étienne, which has won three consecutive matches in ELITE 2, presents a new challenge for Champagne Basket. Regardless of Kok's availability, the team will aim to confirm their victory over Vichy and secure their first two consecutive wins of the season.
