Nothing Phones get early Android 17 update

Several Nothing Phones, including the 3a, 4a, and their Pro variants, have begun receiving an update to Android 17 ahead of schedule. The update was originally expected in early November but has already started rolling out for these models, with the Nothing Phone 3 having already received it.

New OS features and design changes

The update introduces Android 17 along with improvements to the Nothing OS interface. The design includes a translucent icy theme for widgets and menus, a new font, updated icons, and redesigned Settings. Animations are now faster and smoother, and users have more personalization options for the lock screen.

Enhanced functionality and user controls

The update adds new features such as a Glyph Timer, faster Bluetooth control, and new widgets like Collector and Away Time. The camera has also seen improvements, including new effects, presets, and interface updates. Notifications and quick settings are now separated into two panels, similar to other Android devices.

Update schedule for other models

The Nothing Phone 2a and 2a Plus are expected to receive the update in mid-November. The Phone 3a Lite will get it by the end of December, while the Phone 4b and CMF Phone 2 Pro will have to wait until mid-January. Users who do not receive the update automatically can check for it in the System Update section of their phone’s settings.
