Kerry Washington, best known for her role as Olivia Pope in the hit ABC drama Scandal, is evolving her interview series Street You Grew Up On into a weekly podcast. The show, which she has hosted in four separate seasons over the past few years, has previously featured in-depth conversations with artists, writers, and cultural leaders about the places that influenced their personal and professional lives. Washington launched the digital series in 2021 as a way to explore the connection between geography and identity, and now she is bringing that same thoughtful format to a new platform. The podcast will maintain the core structure of the digital series, with Washington conducting one-on-one interviews that delve into the backgrounds and experiences of her guests. Each episode will continue to highlight the significance of the locations that shaped their careers and worldviews. By shifting to a podcast format, the show will become more accessible to listeners who prefer audio content, potentially reaching a wider audience beyond those who watch video interviews. Washington, who is also an accomplished producer and director, has long been interested in storytelling that reflects diverse perspectives. Her transition to a podcast format aligns with a growing trend of creators expanding their reach through audio platforms. This move also allows for greater flexibility in scheduling and production, enabling more frequent episodes and deeper exploration of each guest’s story. The weekly release schedule of the podcast suggests a commitment to consistent, ongoing storytelling. Fans of Street You Grew Up On can now follow the series more conveniently, and new listeners may discover the show through streaming platforms or podcast directories. As the show continues, it is expected to maintain its focus on meaningful, reflective conversations that highlight the impact of place on personal and professional journeys.
