Train collision and power failure cause long delay

A train operated by Ouigo faced significant delays after colliding with an obstacle and experiencing an electrical power failure. The incident affected passengers traveling from Rennes to Paris-Austerlitz, who arrived nearly six hours late.

Extended journey time

The journey, which usually takes about 4 hours and 30 minutes, stretched to over nine hours. The train finally reached Paris just before 5 a.m., much later than expected.

Sequence of incidents

According to Ici Armorique, the train left Rennes around 7 p.m. and encountered a series of problems. It first collided with an obstacle or an animal on the track after Chartres station and then remained stuck near Jouy (Eure-et-Loir) for nearly four hours.

Power failure adds to delays

Around 3 a.m., the train resumed its journey toward Paris but encountered an electrical power failure. This forced it to stop at Rambouillet station in the Yvelines department, further extending the delay for passengers.

Passenger response and compensation

Some passengers chose to travel to Paris independently, while others stayed on the train with only bottles of water provided. Ouigo has announced that tickets will be fully refunded, and passengers will receive vouchers equivalent to the price they paid.

Previous similar incident

In April of last year, an Ouigo classic train traveling between Paris and Rennes also experienced a breakdown near Chartres. This resulted in a delay of more than nine hours and required passengers to spend the night in a room.
