Amateur game adapts film scenes

An amateur video game adaptation of the film Resident Evil, directed by Zach Cregger, is being developed in the style of the original PlayStation 1. The game, titled Resident Evil: Le film : Le Jeu, recreates key scenes from the movie, including one where character Bryan Hodukavich escapes an infected Doberman.

Retro visuals and fixed camera angles

The game uses fixed camera angles and a retro graphical style reminiscent of early 2000s console games. One scene features Bryan Hodukavich fleeing the infected dog, recreated with pixelated visuals and limited animation to match the PS1 era.

Developer shares progress and inspiration

The project is being developed by an independent game creator known online as "chicanogoth." On October 19, the developer shared animations showing Bryan Hodukavich's death and injury, inspired by the infected dog model from Resident Evil 2 called Cerberus.

Community engagement and director's reaction

Online users have requested features such as Bryan's inaccurate combat skills and asked about voice actors. Koshi Nakanishi, director of Resident Evil 7, shared the game on social media with the caption "WAOUH!" showing support for the project.

Film's success and fan interest

The film Resident Evil has earned over $360 million globally, making it the 10th most profitable video game adaptation. This follows previous viral fan projects, such as Chandler Riggs' short film adaptation of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
