Graham Norton has admitted that his reality TV show, The Neighbourhood, did not perform well with viewers, leading to a drop in ratings. The series, which featured real-life families competing on a fictional street for a £250,000 prize, was initially scheduled for a prime-time slot at 9pm but was moved to 10:45pm after low viewership. Norton expressed sympathy for the production team, who spent two years working on the show, and noted that television hits cannot always be created on demand. The show had been heavily promoted by ITV ahead of its April 2026 premiere, which was scheduled during a busy time with the two-part finale of I’m A Celebrity… South Africa. However, by the third episode, viewership had fallen to around 500,000, far below expectations. This underperformance was a disappointment for ITV, which had hoped the show could match the success of the BBC’s The Traitors and its celebrity version. In an interview with The Times, Norton expressed gratitude that his long-running chat show, The Graham Norton Show, has been renewed by the BBC until 2029. He mentioned that the BBC had recently canceled other popular shows, such as Celebrity Mastermind and Blankety Blank. Norton also shared that he and his husband, Jono McLeod, have adopted a new dog. However, the couple has decided not to publicly reveal the pet’s name or breed, as they wish to avoid the attention that came with their previous dogs, Madge and Bailey, who had passed away.
