Saint-Malo prepares for Route du Rhum with enhanced transport, parking restrictions, and adjusted traffic rules for visitors and residents.
Event logistics in Saint-Malo
The start of the Route du Rhum sailing race on Sunday, November 1, has prompted extensive logistical planning in Saint-Malo. Shuttle buses, reinforced public transport lines, and regulated access to key areas are being implemented to manage the influx of visitors and participants.Parking and shuttle services
Two designated parking lots, Paul-Féval and Croix-Désilles, are available for visitors near the Saint-Malo basins, with shuttle services connecting them to the village. Parking costs 10 euros per day, and the shuttle is included for up to five occupants. These shuttles operate from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., approximately every fifteen minutes.Regulated traffic access
From October 20 to November 1, motorized traffic in the Intra-Muros and Sillon areas is restricted to vehicles with permits. Permits for residents and professionals were no longer available after October 17, and only urgent requests are now processed. Visitors must use shuttle parking lots or public transport.Extended public transport
Urban MAT lines extend their operating hours during the event, with Line 1 running until 2 a.m. and Lines 2 and 3 until 1:30 a.m. Some stops are relocated, and holiday-specific schedules apply on Sunday, November 1. Travelers arriving by train can walk from Saint-Malo station to the village in about fifteen minutes.Changes at the Sablons port
On Friday, October 30, the Sablons port will implement new restrictions, including a ban on parking on Montre Street and near the breakwater. Traffic will be diverted, and the dock will be reserved for race organization use until Monday, November 2. Pedestrian access remains open, and changes are detailed by Saint-Malo Plaisance.
