Guiraud accuses Retailleau of corruption

David Guiraud, mayor of Roubaix and member of the LFI party, accused Bruno Retailleau, president of Les Républicains and a presidential candidate, of being the "boss of corruption and influence peddling" during a debate on LCI.

Allegations of fictitious jobs and fraud

Guiraud also claimed that Retailleau is "the boss of the party of tax fraud, money laundering, and embezzlement of public funds," and accused him of overseeing "fictitious jobs" within his organization.

Contradictory stance criticized

The mayor challenged Retailleau's assertion that he is the instigator of chaos, pointing out what he sees as a contradiction in Retailleau's approach—being strict with others while showing leniency toward his own party members.

Guiraud's claim about convictions

Guiraud suggested that he could fill the Stade de France, one of France’s largest stadiums, with names of individuals from Retailleau’s organization who have been convicted of crimes.

Retailleau reportedly stunned by attack

The intensity of Guiraud’s remarks reportedly left Retailleau visibly surprised and unprepared for the level of criticism during the televised debate.
