BIOLEVATE, a Paris-based startup, has raised 30 million euros in a Series A funding round to expand its artificial intelligence platform. The platform is designed to help health industry laboratories manage the research, documentation, verification, and validation processes more efficiently. Previously focused on medical writing, the company now aims to become a comprehensive tool for managing scientific knowledge in regulated environments. The funding round was co-led by RAISE France and Orange Ventures, with participation from EQT Ventures, the MSD Global Health Innovation Fund, and Station F. Earlier in November 2024, the company had raised 6 million euros in seed funding. The BIOLEVATE platform is built to address the complex challenges of regulatory compliance in the health sector. It aggregates scientific, regulatory, and company-specific sources to support workflows where results remain connected to their supporting documents. The platform uses AI agents to search, extract, compare, and synthesize information, while experts maintain control over the review and validation process. The company claims its system can perform literature reviews up to sixteen times faster and achieve 80% efficiency gains in regulatory monitoring and compliance, with the ability to run 100,000 agents simultaneously. BIOLEVATE currently has more than a dozen large customers using its platform and has formed partnerships with major companies such as Sanofi, NVIDIA, and Microsoft. The company currently employs 50 people and plans to double its workforce. It has also filed seven patent applications, with two already filed in Europe. Despite its growth, BIOLEVATE faces competition from established players such as Yseop, Certara, Indegene, Veeva, ArisGlobal, and Clarivate, as well as major service providers like IQVIA. These companies offer similar automation, document generation, and support for writing teams, with some incorporating generative AI and agent capabilities into their platforms. BIOLEVATE differentiates itself by focusing on the organization and validation of sensitive knowledge in industries that rely heavily on foreign software, data, and models. The startup aims to provide European laboratories with the ability to deploy AI agents on their own data in controlled environments, with clear policies on sources, data, and validation personnel. This approach addresses the growing concern over sovereignty in AI applications within the health sector. The company plans to open an office in Boston to expand its international presence, while maintaining its operational center in Paris. The Series A funding gives BIOLEVATE the resources to establish itself as an independent platform, potentially attracting acquirers such as regulatory software suppliers, service groups, and contract research organizations. The company's future success will depend on its ability to convert initial deployments into long-term contracts, strengthen integrations, and demonstrate the effectiveness of its technology across multiple therapeutic areas and regulatory frameworks.
