At Gamescom, IKEA and Xbox introduced the YXSTABY collection, a new line of furniture designed specifically for gamers. This collaboration brings together IKEA's practical approach to home furnishings with Xbox's gaming expertise, creating products that serve both functional and decorative purposes. The collection includes items like side tables, TV stands, and decorative controller boxes, as well as more playful pieces like a thumbstick stool and a D-pad cushion. These products aim to meet the needs of gamers while also fitting into a modern home's aesthetic. Philip Dilé, a product developer at IKEA of Sweden, explained that the collaboration sought to balance the fun and practical aspects of gaming. Carl Ledbetter, partner head of design at Xbox, emphasized that the products are not only useful for gaming but also intended to be beautiful additions to any living space. For example, the TV stand is designed to have a "dual life," functioning as both an entertainment display and a gaming hub. It can hold gaming consoles, TVs, and other devices while maintaining a stylish look. The side table in the collection is another example of this dual purpose. It includes dedicated storage for gaming accessories like controllers, headsets, and battery packs, along with features for cable management and power connectivity. Both Dilé and Ledbetter highlighted the importance of solving common issues in home gaming, such as tangled cables and cluttered spaces. They also aimed to create designs that would appeal to a broader audience, avoiding overly bright or garish styles that might only attract gamers. The YXSTABY collection will launch in October and consists of nine products designed to blend gaming functionality with home aesthetics. Ledbetter expressed hope that the collection would help gamers find a stylish and practical place for their equipment at home, making it easier to enjoy gaming without sacrificing the look of their living space. This collaboration reflects a growing trend of integrating technology and entertainment into everyday home life.
