New legislative proposals announced

The Legal Affairs Commission of the Upper Assembly has introduced 30 new measures designed to improve preparedness for potential disruptions and enhance the efficiency of law enforcement operations.

Focus on operational effectiveness

The proposed measures include reforms to training protocols and resource allocation, aiming to ensure that security units can respond more swiftly and effectively to emerging threats.

Stricter penalties for dissent

Among the proposals is a call for harsher punishments for individuals involved in acts of dissent, including increased prison terms and financial penalties for those deemed to be undermining public order.

Tackling looting and disorder

The package also targets looters and those engaging in unlawful activities during crises, with plans to introduce stricter legal consequences and more rigorous enforcement mechanisms.
