EcoFlow has introduced two new solar battery systems at IFA 2026, aiming to help homes become more self-sufficient in their electricity use. These systems, called the Stream 5000 and the tri-phase Ocean 2, are designed to store excess energy generated by solar panels during the day and release it when needed. This helps reduce reliance on the power grid, especially during peak hours or when solar production is low. The Stream 5000 has a storage capacity of 5,024 watt-hours (Wh) and can absorb up to 5,000 watts of power from solar panels. It can then provide up to 3,000 watts of electricity to the home. Its storage capacity can be expanded up to 90 kWh by connecting multiple units, making it suitable for a variety of household needs. The Stream 5000 is priced at around 1,900 euros. The Ocean 2 is a more advanced tri-phase storage system, designed for homes with larger solar installations. It comes in five different power levels, ranging from 6 to 15 kilowatts (kW), and can accept up to 24 kW of solar power. It can supply backup power to the entire house, supporting up to 63 amps of electricity with immediate switching in case of a power outage. While the price of the Ocean 2 has not been officially announced, it is expected to be higher due to its increased capacity and functionality. In addition to the new battery systems, EcoFlow also introduced the portable RIVER Gen4 stations, available in 300 W and 500 W versions, and the professional PowerRock 4000 station, which offers 3 kWh of storage and is intended for use in construction, events, or emergency situations. These products reflect a growing trend as more households install solar panels, electric vehicles, and heat pumps, which can increase electricity consumption. By storing solar energy and using it when needed, homes are increasingly becoming their own small power plants, reducing overall energy costs and increasing energy independence.
