Transport normal in the morning

Trams and buses in Montpellier will run as usual on Saturday morning, but disruptions are expected later in the day. The city’s public transport network, known as TaM, will operate normally until noon, unlike a previous day when all tram lines and buses were suspended for the entire day.

Afternoon disruptions uncertain

After 12 o'clock, the operation of trams and buses will depend on the evolving situation with gatherings and security measures. No official schedule has been given for when these disruptions might end or resume.

Travelers warned of delays

The prefecture has shared detailed information about these changes, and travelers planning to reach their workplace, a station, or an appointment in the afternoon should be aware that usual schedules may not ensure a smooth trip. Information from TaM and station signage will be crucial throughout the day.

Gatherings focused on science area

The mobilization will particularly affect the area around the science faculty and Place Eugène-Bataillon. Authorities have suggested an alternative route to Montcalm Park, away from the historic center, to manage the flow of people during the event.

City center restrictions in place

From 8 am to 10 pm on Saturday, gatherings are banned in a defined area of Montpellier’s city center, including the Écusson, Jules-Milhau Alley, and Polygone square. People heading to the city center must be careful to avoid this restricted zone, which is separate from the planned demonstration routes.

Security measures and equipment bans

Authorities have justified these restrictions due to past incidents and concerns about public order. Additional security will be present, especially near shops and public buildings. Carrying or transporting certain protective equipment, like gas masks or tactical gear, is also banned in several areas of the Hérault department.

Curfew for unaccompanied minors

On Saturday evening, unaccompanied minors will not be allowed to move freely in Montpellier’s city center from 8 pm on Saturday to 6 am on Sunday. Families planning Halloween activities in the area should take this curfew into account.

Fireworks and chemical bans

In addition, the use and transport of fireworks and pyrotechnic items are prohibited in the Hérault department from Saturday morning to early Sunday. This includes the transport of certain flammable or chemical products, such as fuel in jerrycans. These restrictions apply only to specific times and areas.
