The **WiCi One** has been unveiled as the first wireless external graphics processing unit (eGPU) announced by the young tech company WiCi. While it is not yet available in stores, the device is currently accepting pre-orders, and a public presentation is set for the beginning of October 2026 in New York. Unlike a standard eGPU case, which only houses a graphics card, the WiCi One includes a complete PC configuration. This includes an Intel Core 3 100U processor, 1 terabyte of NVMe SSD storage, and a 16 gigabyte Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti graphics card. A more powerful version with a Core Ultra 7 255H processor and a 32 gigabyte RTX 5090 card is also in the works.
The WiCi One operates by using a driver that simulates a virtual GPU on the user’s existing machine, regardless of whether it runs Windows, macOS, or Linux. This allows applications such as 3D rendering, video editing, or artificial intelligence software to send their processing tasks to the WiCi One remotely. The device communicates through the Wi-Fi 7 standard, specifically using a 4x4 MIMO setup on a 320 MHz band. However, this method has limitations in terms of data transfer speed. The WiCi One’s maximum physical data transfer rate is estimated at around 11.5 gigabits per second, which is much lower than the 64 gigabits per second offered by wired alternatives like Thunderbolt 5 or the OCuLink protocol.
To address this limitation, WiCi claims to be using advanced techniques such as caching algorithms, data deduplication, and selective transmission of GPU streams. Additionally, the internal storage is designed to handle large AI models, reducing the need for constant high-speed data transfer. However, how well the device performs in real-world conditions—such as through walls or on a busy home network—remains to be tested. The company has conducted internal tests using high-end video games, claiming to achieve 80 frames per second in 4K Ultra settings in Cyberpunk 2077 with DLSS 4 and 60 frames per second in Black Myth: Wukong.
Pricing for the RTX 5060 Ti version is set at $1,999 for the first pre-order registrants, with the price increasing to $2,599 during the scheduled deliveries at the end of 2026. The cost of the more powerful RTX 5090 version will be announced at a later date. The WiCi One represents an ambitious attempt to bring high-performance computing capabilities to users without the need for a direct physical connection, but its success will depend on how well it performs in practical scenarios.
