Zazie's new album, "Volatil," is set to release on October 2. The album includes the song "La Même Histoire," whose music video premiered in early September. The video features a single continuous shot with sudden accelerations, creating a dynamic visual effect. To achieve this, Zazie had to learn to perform parts of the song at a slower pace, which would later be sped up in post-production. She described the process as "a real job," but emphasized that she and director Christian Beuchet, a longtime collaborator, stayed instinctive throughout the filming. The video shows Zazie walking and singing on a bridge while looking at a camera moving backward. Despite its seemingly simple appearance, the video was more complex to film. The single continuous shot lasted over four minutes, with brief moments of sudden acceleration adding intensity to the nighttime walk. The filming took place on the Bercy Bridge after Zazie considered other locations, including the Bir-Hakeim Bridge, which she found too well-known. She sent videos to the director explaining potential filming spots and locations for her makeup artist. Multiple takes were required until the correct one was achieved. On the final take, there was unexpected traffic at the end of the song, which Zazie used to slalom between cars, knowing there would be slow-motion footage. She mentioned checking to avoid being hit by cars, noting that they were in Paris. "La Même Histoire" is the first song Zazie wrote after her "Nouvel Air Tour" in 2024. She returned to writing more quickly than expected, waiting until she felt inspired. She connected her piano and worked on piano and voice. The first text she wrote was "La Même Histoire," which she felt was somewhat angry. She waited until she had more songs before contacting her musician friends. The album "Volatil" was announced in early summer with the first single "Peu Importe," which was not originally planned. Zazie recalled that her record label suggested several songs could be second singles but couldn't decide on a first one. She withheld for two days before writing "Peu Importe," which they found very good. "La Même Histoire" is not the second single from "Volatil," but an excerpt. Zazie explained that she released it to give listeners an idea of what to expect from the album, as it is longer than typical radio-friendly songs. She did not intend to cut any verses from the song. The song's lyrics have a tone of disillusionment, reflecting her belief that both small and large stories repeat. She mentioned that her parents, who experienced war, are anxious about the current state of the world. Her mother is 93, and her father recently passed away at 90. She believes the world is undergoing a transformation, which inspired the album title "Volatil," meaning volatile, unreliable, and unstable, while also suggesting taking a step back to gain perspective.
