Race victory in Overijse

Lucinda Brand, the world champion, won the first round of the Telenet Superprestige in Overijse on Sunday, finishing ahead of Aniek Van Alphen and European champion Inge Van der Heijden.

Amandine Fouquenet’s performance

Amandine Fouquenet, the first French rider, finished fourth, more than a minute behind the winner. She spoke to Cyclism’Actu after the race about her progress and goals.

Fouquenet on her training

Fouquenet said she is training to achieve the best results possible. She noted that this was her first race of the season and that she was still catching up after a scaphoid fracture.

Belgian training and goals

Now living in Belgium, Fouquenet is training with her team weekly to improve her technical skills, which she feels are lagging on slippery tracks. She is focusing on the latter part of the season for her main objectives.

European Championships as a goal

Fouquenet mentioned the European Championships, which are in two weeks, as a target. She aims for a podium but acknowledges she is still catching up after her injury and is unsure about the course.

Nationality and future plans

Although she now lives in Belgium, Fouquenet plans to keep her French nationality. She is happy with her current situation and hopes it will help her improve technically and achieve better results.
