Suspension of INSEP players

Messi Yangala and nine of his teammates at the INSEP have been provisionally suspended until November 18. They are currently barred from accessing the facilities of the Pôle France, pending the outcome of an administrative investigation into an incident of violence that occurred between September 13 and 14.

Suspension details

The suspension does not prevent the players from training, only from participating in games. As a result, several professional clubs have received permission from the French Basketball Federation to host the suspended players for training sessions.

Cholet Basket’s involvement

Cholet Basket has publicly confirmed that Messi Yangala will train with them. This decision was likely influenced by an article from Ouest France that revealed Yangala's participation in training sessions led by Fabrice Lefrançois.

Club’s statement

Cholet Basket stated that Yangala has chosen to train with them to continue his development and stay committed to his sports goals. The club expressed its willingness to support him during the suspension period.

Cholet Basket’s prior interest

Cholet Basket had been monitoring Yangala for months. Fabrice Lefrançois had previously discussed with him during the Young Star Game in March, and the club had attempted to attract him last summer.

Club’s cautious approval

Guillaume Costentin, Cholet Basket’s sports director, told Ouest France that the club asked questions about Yangala’s situation before welcoming him. The information they received was enough to feel confident about allowing him to train with them.

Future with Cholet Basket

Yangala’s potential integration into Cholet Basket’s professional squad depends on the outcome of the INSEP investigation. If cleared to play, he could begin his NBA development project with the club.
