The Lire en Poche 2026 Prize honored four literary works across different categories during the 22nd edition of the Gironde fair, which took place in Gradignan from October 9 to 11. Organized by the French publishing house Lire en Poche, the event was sponsored by author Mathias Malzieu and themed "Soif d'ideal," which translates to "Thirst for the Ideal." The fair featured four separate selection processes for its prizes, each recognizing different aspects of literature. Nicolas Rouillé was awarded the French literature prize for his novel Timika, published by Anacharsis in 2018 and reprinted in January 2026 in the "Griffe/Fictions" collection. Set in Western Papua, the novel examines the political and economic conflicts surrounding mining. Rouillé's work was chosen over entries by Sébastien Dulude and Delphine Minoui. Céline Leroy received the translated literature prize for her translation of Juno et Legs by Karl Geary. The novel, published in French by Éditions de l'Olivier in 2025 and reprinted in February 2026 by Points, follows two teenagers in 1980s Dublin. Leroy's translation was selected over works by Margot Nguyen Béraud and Thibaud Eliroff. Erik L’Homme was awarded the young literature prize for Le Grand Voyage, a novel inspired by Breton legends. The book, reprinted in Folio Junior in October 2025, follows a 12-year-old boy on a journey to the land of the dead. The work had previously won the Ouest-France 2024 prize and the Chronos literature prize 2025. Johana Gustawsson won the Sud Ouest/Lire en Poche thriller prize for Les Morsures du silence, published by Calmann-Lévy in 2025 and reprinted by Livre de Poche in February 2026. The novel revolves around a murder on the Swedish island of Lidingö and was chosen by public vote from April to July 2026. The prize was awarded over entries by David Hury and Jacky Schwartzmann.
