A Parisian festival explores sacred speech through three plays, blending theology and contemporary themes from November 2 to 5.
Festival explores sacred themes
From Monday, November 2, to Friday, November 5, the festival Sacré parole, paroles sacrées will take place at the Bernanos space in Paris. The event focuses on themes related to sacred speech and its impact on human experience.Concept behind the festival
The poster for the festival describes it as "The sacred words of a sacred speech" that touch us and have the power to relieve our sufferings. Serge Sarkissian, a theater and literature professional and co-organizer, explains that the festival aims to bring this concept to life wherever people want their plays performed.Inspiration from past work
"For seven years, we have performed plays at the Avignon Festival that mix current themes with reflections," Sarkissian says. "Sometimes, these reflections lead us toward theology marked by the Jewish-Christian tradition." The festival continues this tradition with a series of thought-provoking performances.Plays featured at the festival
The three plays presented are as follows: Saint Augustine's Dialogue with God, recited by Brigitte Fossey, on November 2; Job or the Wandering of the Righteous, adapted from the Book of Job, will be performed on November 3 and 4 with Bernard Lanneau, Céline Samie, Salvatore Caltabiano, Stéphane Baquet, and the voice-over of Michaël Lonsdale.Final play of the festival
On November 5, In the Name of the Father or the Boldness of Truth, written by Dominique Rey and Serge Sarkissian, will be performed by Bernard Lanneau, Salvatore Caltabiano, and Stéphane Baquet. The festival takes place at the Espace Bernanos, 4 rue du Havre, Paris 9th arrondissement. For more information, visit the provided link.
