Fairground Entertainment has launched a new streaming channel called AI Creator TV, offering free, ad-supported content created using artificial intelligence. Available on Roku and other platforms, the channel features films generated through AI technology, packaged into a FAST (free ad-supported streaming television) format. This means viewers can watch the content without a subscription, and the channel is curated by Fairground, which works with over 100 AI filmmakers to select and distribute their work. While Roku is not involved in creating the films, it serves as one of the platforms for distribution, alongside services like Xumo Play and Canela.TV. The content on AI Creator TV is not entirely produced by machines. Human creators still play a significant role in the process. For example, in the film Lost Garden: The Awakening of the Lantern Knight, the creator, Frank Houbre, developed the world, characters, mythology, emotional arc, and screenplay himself. AI tools were used primarily for animation and visual effects, while other tools helped generate voices and music. The final product was then edited using conventional video-editing software, showing that AI is a tool rather than a replacement for human creativity. Fairground invites filmmakers to submit their projects through a dedicated creator portal, where selected works may be featured on its streaming platforms and TV networks. To boost the supply of content, the company launched a competition tied to the channel’s launch, asking creators to submit films in categories like true crime, general AI filmmaking, and world-building. Winners received prize money, placement on the channel, and 50% of the revenue their films generated. Other submissions could also be considered for distribution and revenue sharing. Fairground’s goal is to help creators reach a wider audience by getting their work onto TV screens rather than just digital devices where people scroll. The FAST format is an experiment in changing how independent creators distribute their content. Instead of relying on individual uploads to gain visibility, selected content can become part of a channel that is already accessible through established TV platforms. Fairground provides both the programming pipeline and the platform to showcase it. Despite these efforts, it remains to be seen whether viewers will be interested in an AI-focused TV channel. Fairground has made its channel visible in TV guides, but now it must convince audiences to stay and watch. The success of AI Creator TV will depend on whether the content resonates with viewers and whether the format can sustain long-term engagement.
