From October 8 to 11, the Institut Pasteur is launching the 20th edition of the Pasteurdon, its major annual event dedicated to medical research. The event, under its new slogan "Your fight for life is also ours," invites the general public to support researchers facing major current health challenges. For the third year in a row, the event is sponsored by Kad Merad and Julia Vignali, with support from Sud Radio to advance science and protect the health of individuals. This anniversary edition focuses on three priority research areas: cancers, infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance, and brain diseases. Cancer research includes targeted work on postpartum breast cancer, understanding treatment failures, and improving immunotherapies. Infectious diseases and antibiotic resistance research aims at achieving durable remission of HIV, fighting bacteria that have become resistant to antibiotics, and monitoring epidemics. Brain diseases research includes the study of neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism, and research on Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. This 20th edition will be marked by two major events: the Discovery Evening on Thursday, October 8, which will celebrate 20 years of discoveries and the awarding of eight Pasteurdon Prizes, and the Open Day "Mission Pasteur," on Saturday, October 10, from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm, on the Paris campus of the Institut Pasteur, where families and children can experience the life of apprentice researchers. "Every donation, regardless of the amount, contributes to maintaining our research freedom, funding bold projects, and training tomorrow's scientists," recalls Yasmine Belkaid, director general of the Institut Pasteur. Sud Radio, a leading media partner, represented this year by Cécile de Ménibus, actively participates in the radio campaign for the Pasteurdon, broadcast on Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9, 2026. Listeners will hear messages calling for generosity and interventions highlighting the projects of scientists. To support the research of the Institut Pasteur during this 2026 edition, several simple methods are available to the public: Online, directly on the official website pasteurdon.fr. By SMS, by sending the keyword DON via SMS to 92112 to make a donation of 20 euros (cost of SMS free, donation debited from the mobile bill for Bouygues Télécom, Free, Orange and SFR subscribers). By check, made out to the Pasteurdon and sent to 25 rue du Docteur Roux, 75015 Paris. Solidarity crowdfunding: everyone can create their own solidarity collection on the online platform mondon.pasteur.fr. The generosity of the public represents a third of the Institut Pasteur's overall budget. For every 100 euros collected: 77 euros directly fund the realization of social missions (research, public health, teaching, innovation). 12 euros cover operating costs. 11 euros are allocated to the cost of public generosity appeals. Concretely, 1 million euros allows the funding of a research unit of 10 people for one year. Donations also fund essential cutting-edge equipment, such as electron and photon microscopes or laboratory automatons. The 2026 edition also relies on several collective mobilization levers, including the "Ambassador Cities" program, which brings together 20 local authorities such as Paris, Lyon, Bordeaux or Avignon to relay the campaign to their residents. The Pasteurdon also relies on solidarity sports, with its presence at the Parisienne and the 20 km of Paris, as well as the support of several patrons, including the Le Roch-Les Mousquetaires Foundation, AG2R La Mondiale and the Pasteur Mutualité Group.
