South Park has officially returned for its 29th season, and fans have welcomed the new episodes with positive feedback. The first episode, originally titled "Show," was later renamed "South America" as a nod to former U.S. President Donald Trump. This change came just days after the show’s creators announced the decision, which they described as a satirical response to Trump's recent attempts to rename various places. The episode, however, did not feature Trump or many direct references to him, signaling a shift from the more overtly political themes of Season 28. The premiere episode focused on the growing trend of e-bikes in South America, exploring both the benefits and challenges of this technology. The storyline avoided direct political commentary, instead concentrating on the cultural and social impact of e-bikes in the region. Despite this shift, the episode was well-received by many viewers, who appreciated the return to a more traditional style of storytelling. One of the most notable elements of the episode was the return of a classic South Park tradition: the death of Kenny, a character who has died over 100 times throughout the series. This recurring gag, which often serves as a humorous and shocking moment, was met with enthusiasm from fans who felt the show had returned to its roots. Many viewers expressed that the "old" South Park—with its signature irreverent humor—was back in full force. While some fans were initially surprised by the absence of Trump in the episode, others found this refreshing. A few noted that Trump was only mentioned in the opening credits, and not directly featured in the storyline. Overall, the episode was praised for its humor, improved animation, and the realistic depiction of e-bikes. Many considered it one of the funniest episodes in recent memory, reinforcing the show’s reputation for blending sharp satire with creative storytelling.
