Btwin, a brand under the Decathlon umbrella, has launched a new waterproof and windproof jacket priced under 30 euros, offering an affordable option for cyclists looking for protection in adverse weather. The jacket is designed to keep users dry during a real downpour, thanks to its waterproof rating of 5,000 mm of water column—a standard that ensures the fabric can withstand heavy rain. It also features fully waterproof seams, a detail often missing in cheaper jackets, which helps prevent water from seeping through stitching. To confirm its performance, the jacket was tested in a laboratory where it was exposed to 60 liters of water per hour per square meter for two hours, simulating a prolonged downpour. The jacket’s visibility is enhanced by its fluorescent yellow color, which meets the EN 17353 European standard for daytime visibility. This makes it easier for cyclists to be seen on the road during daylight hours. The adjustable hood is designed to fit over a helmet, and the jacket can be folded into its own chest pocket, creating a compact package of 26 x 25 x 5 cm in size L. This compact size makes it convenient to carry in a backpack or bag when not in use. While the jacket offers wind protection that can help keep the wearer warm in colder conditions, it does not include a ventilation system. This could lead to heat and humidity buildup during extended physical activity, such as long cycling sessions. The jacket is available only in two sizes—L and XL—leaving out smaller sizes, which may limit its appeal to a broader audience. The care instructions recommend washing the jacket at a maximum of 30 °C with a gentle cycle, keeping zippers closed, and avoiding ironing or dry cleaning. It comes with a two-year warranty, which is the minimum required by French law. The jacket is currently available for purchase at 29.99 euros on the Decathlon website.
