The Lebanese Cultural Center in France (CCLF) is hosting a debate titled "French Media Confronted with the War Conducted by Israel in Lebanon" on October 14 at 7:00 PM at La Césure in Paris. The event will bring together experts and journalists, including Alain Gresh, director of Orient XXI; Ziad Majed, a Franco-Lebanese political scientist and university professor; Arthur Sarradin, a journalist; and Denis Sieffert, a former editor-in-chief of Politis. The discussion aims to explore how French media reports on the ongoing conflict between Israel and Lebanon and its broader implications. In past issues of Orient XXI, Ziad Majed wrote an article titled "Sowing Ruin. Erasure as an Israeli Strategy," in which he examined how Israeli policies in Palestine, especially in Gaza and South Lebanon, involve not only physical destruction but also the erasure of cultural and historical memory through the demolition of homes, libraries, archives, photographs, and property documents. In another article titled "Lebanon. Another Strategy to Exit the Impasse," Majed noted that despite a framework agreement signed in June 2026 between Beirut and Tel Aviv under U.S. mediation, the region remains far from achieving lasting peace. Giulia Della Michelina's article, "South Lebanon. The Israeli War Against the Environment," highlights the environmental damage caused by Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, which has worsened water shortages and food insecurity. Meanwhile, Laurent Bonnefoy, a researcher at CNRS and member of Orient XXI's editorial board, recently appeared on the Geo Politics program of Radio Télévision Suisse (RTS) to discuss the Houthi offensive in Yemen. Helen Lackner, in an article titled "Yemen. Regional War, Global Issues," analyzed the Houthi movement’s strategic responses to the Israeli-American attack on Iran in February 2026. In an investigation titled "Palestine. France Info TV, the Making of an Editorial Lock," conducted by Acrimed and Orient XXI, journalists Meriem Laribi and Pauline Perrenot examined potential editorial bias in France Info TV's coverage of the conflict in Palestine since October 7, 2023. Rami Abou Jamous, writing for Orient XXI, has reflected on the ongoing war in Gaza, describing the immense suffering endured by Palestinians. Other recent articles include Sophie Boutière-Damahi’s piece, "In Marseille, Aflam revives the memory of Arab cinemas," about the 13th edition of the Arab cinema festival in Marseille, and an analysis by Pierre-Yves Baillet and Adèle Forveille titled "Sudan. Under the guise of dialogue, a monologue of the army," which looks at the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue process. The Fund for Free Press (FPL) is launching a fundraising campaign to support its tenth call for projects, titled "Presidential Election 2027: Six Months to Avoid Collapse." Separately, the NGO Migration & Development (M&D) is celebrating its 40th anniversary with an event in Paris on October 24.
