Tarantino completes final film script

Quentin Tarantino has finished writing his tenth and final film, but he will not start filming right away. During an interview on The Graham Norton Show on October 16, 2026, he said he plans to focus on his play and take some time for personal life before beginning production on the film.

Stage debut planned for 2027

Tarantino will stage his first play, The Popinjay Cavalier, at London’s Phoenix Theatre starting in February 2027. The adventure comedy, which he also wrote, will feature Sacha Baron Cohen in the lead role and run for three months, with the official premiere on March 18, 2027.

Play originated as a film idea

Tarantino explained that The Popinjay Cavalier was first written as a film script but he felt it was more suitable for the stage. The play will begin performances on February 23, 2027, and will continue until June 13, giving audiences a chance to experience his work in a new format.

Previous project delayed

Tarantino had already postponed his retirement by abandoning The Movie Critic, which was meant to be his tenth and final film. He had planned to direct Brad Pitt for the third time, with Pitt set to reprise his role as Cliff Booth from Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood. Tom Cruise was also expected to appear in the film, which aimed to reimagine scenes from Taxi Driver.

Uncertainty about new film details

No further details have been released about Tarantino’s new film, including whether Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise will be in the cast or if Paul Schrader, the screenwriter of Taxi Driver, was involved in the script. The project remains shrouded in mystery, with only the completion of the script confirmed so far.
