Second edition of Décarbon’azzione
The second edition of Décarbon’azzione took place this Tuesday in Ajaccio aboard the Capu Rossu, a new ship operated by Corsica Linea that runs on liquefied natural gas (LNG). The event focused on key issues such as reducing carbon footprints, maintaining economic competitiveness, and finding ways to finance the transition to greener energy sources.Event’s goals and organizers
Launched in 2025 by Corsica Linea, Crédit Agricole de la Corse, and EDF Corse, Décarbon’azzione aimed to unite Corsica’s economy around the goal of decarbonization. The event was held in partnership with RCFM and supported by ADEME, and it featured a format that combined economic analysis, entrepreneur stories, and professional networking to help companies connect with those who can support their transformation.Strategies for reducing carbon impact
Mario Capai, head of the Territorial Action service at EDF Corse, explained that the event sought to bring together companies, operators, facilitators, and project supporters to help reduce carbon footprints and energy use. He emphasized the importance of providing access to the necessary skills and tools to achieve these goals at the local level.Corsica Linea’s energy transition
Vincent Orsini from Corsica Linea discussed the company’s strategy of sharing its experience in transitioning its operations. He noted that investments in energy transition can bring clear economic benefits. The company is currently working on over 50 projects aimed at reducing CO₂ emissions by 40% by 2030 compared to 2022, while maintaining the same travel distance. These efforts include new ships, improvements to existing ones, and optimizing navigation conditions.Crédit Agricole’s environmental role
Alain Elegoët, newly appointed general director of Crédit Agricole de la Corse, described the bank’s role as a "trusted third party" for companies seeking to make environmental commitments. He expressed confidence in a significant increase in financing for environmental transition, though no specific figures were given. The bank is supporting island companies through visible actions on environmental commitment within the institution.EDF Corse’s renewable energy goals
EDF Corse aims to increase the share of renewable energy in electricity production to 80% by 2030, supported by projects such as the Ricanto project, SACOI 3 electrical link, and pumped hydro storage. These projects are expected to avoid 800,000 tons of CO₂ emissions by 2030. EDF Corse has already mobilized nearly a million euros to support companies in improving energy efficiency and practices.Continuation of the event
Décarbon’azzione will continue on Wednesday, November 4, in Bastia aboard the A Galeotta, with the same objective of fostering cooperation between companies, institutions, and energy actors for Corsica’s ecological transition. A partnership between the Collectivity of Corsica and the CNFPT aims to strengthen the skills of local agents.Additional local developments
Stéphane Sbraggia noted that Corsicans should not be asked to make environmental commitments without clear details. Meanwhile, a 84-year-old woman was seriously injured in a traffic accident on the RT10. INSEE data also indicated that one in two inhabitants of Corsica was born outside the island.
